Verification

New members click Verify (and solve a captcha) before they can see your server, which keeps out raid bots and mass-join scripts.

1. Prepare your server

  1. Create the role verified members get, e.g. Verified.
  2. Let only that role see your channels: on each category, take View Channel away from @everyone and give it to Verified.
  3. Make a #verify channel that @everyone can see but can't type in.
  4. Give the bot Manage Roles (and Kick Members for auto-kick), and drag its role above Verified in Server Settings → Roles.

2. Turn it on

,verification setup #verify @Verified

This posts the panel with a Verify button. Members click it, type the characters from a picture into a popup, and get the role. Everything keeps working through bot restarts.

Options

CommandWhat it does
,verification unverified @UnverifiedGive new members a role on join and take it away when they verify (use with or instead of Verified)
,verification kick 30Kick anyone who hasn't verified after 30 minutes (off to stop)
,verification captcha offOne click verifies, no picture (on brings it back)
,verification message …Your own panel text (embed script works; reset for the default). Run setup again to show it
,verification approve @memberVerify someone by hand (needs Manage Roles)
,verification disableTurn it off and delete the panel

,verification shows the current setup. ,verify works as a short name for all of these.

About the captcha

  • Six characters, without look-alikes like 0 and O. Capitals don't matter.
  • Each picture lasts 5 minutes and gives 3 tries; after that, clicking Verify gives a new one.
  • It stops common raid bots and scripts. Pair it with ,antiraid newaccounts and auto-kick for stronger protection.

If something doesn't work

  • “I can't verify you right now”: the bot's role is below the Verified role, or the role has dangerous permissions (the bot won't hand out roles with Administrator, Ban Members and the like).
  • Jailed members can't verify; verifying never undoes a jail.
Also on the dashboard: your server → Safety → Verification, with a Post panel button.
