Permissions

Who can use which command, and the tools to change that: fake permissions, staff roles, restrictions, disabling and ignoring.

The basics

Each command needs a Discord permission (shown on the commands page): ,ban needs Ban Members, ,welcome needs Manage Server, and so on. The server owner can use everything, and Administrator counts as every permission.

Moderation also checks the role order: you can only punish someone whose highest role is below yours, the bot's role has to be above theirs too, and nobody can punish the server owner.

Fake permissions

Fake permissions let a role use the bot's commands as if it had a permission, without giving it that permission in Discord. Moderators can ,ban through the bot without being able to ban from Discord's own menus, so every ban gets a case and a log entry. Only the server owner can set them.

Let Moderators ban and kick through the bot
,fakepermissions add @Moderators ban_members, kick_members
Fake administrator unlocks every command, including the dangerous ones. Give it to a role you'd trust with real Administrator.

Staff roles

Some features act on “staff”: honeypots never catch staff, ,stripstaff removes staff roles, and some commands are staff-only. Mark roles as staff with ,settings staff (or ,bind staff; both set the same list). Run it again on a role to remove it.

Limiting commands

CommandWhat it doesAdministrators
,restrictcommandOnly members with a role can use a command: ,restrictcommand ban @ModeratorsStill can
,disablecommandTurn a command off in a channel, for a member, or everywhere (,disablecommand all ban)Blocked too
,disablemoduleThe same for a whole group of commands (like Fun)Blocked too
,disableeventTurn off automatic features in a channel or for a member: autoresponders, AFK replies, snipe…Blocked too
,ignore addThe bot ignores a member, or every command in a channelNever ignored
Examples
,disablecommand #general ban
,disablecommand all purge
,restrictcommand ban @Moderators
,ignore add #memes

Disabling or restricting a command also covers its subcommands: ,disablecommand all role turns off ,role add too.

Aliases

Make your own shortcuts with ,alias add. {0}, {1}… stand for the words typed after the shortcut, and the last one takes the rest of the text. Without any, what you type is added to the end:

A shortcut for a 10-minute timeout
,alias add shh timeout {0} 10m

Now ,shh @someone runs ,timeout @someone 10m. An alias still needs the original command's permission.
