Counting
A channel where members count up together, one number at a time. Nobody can count twice in a row.
Setting it up
,counting add #counting
The bot needs Manage Messages in the channel. A server can have up to 5 counting channels, and you can also add and edit them on the dashboard under Counting. All the commands need Manage Server.
How counting works
- Each message must be just the next number, like
1, then2. Anything else is deleted. - The same member can't post two numbers in a row; someone else has to go next.
- If two members post the same number at once, only the first one counts.
- Administrators can post a note in the channel without it being deleted.
When someone gets it wrong
Each channel picks what a wrong number does:
| Mode | A wrong number |
|---|---|
delete | Is deleted and the count carries on (the default) |
reset | Gets ❌, the bot says who ruined it and the best so far, and the count starts again |
,counting mode #counting reset
In reset mode, each right number gets ✅, so the bot also needs Add Reactions and Send Messages there.
Other settings
| Command | Does |
|---|---|
| ,counting increment | Count up by more than 1 each time (up to 1000), e.g. 2, 4, 6 |
| ,counting amount | Set the current number, e.g. to carry on from another bot; anyone can post the next one |
| ,counting list | Each channel's number, step, mode and best |
| ,counting delete | Stop counting in a channel |
,counting increment #counting 2 ,counting amount #counting 500 ,counting add #counting 500
,counting add #channel 500 starts a new channel after 500, so the first number is 501. Deleting a counting channel in Discord removes it from the bot too.
