Ban appeals
Let banned members ask to come back with a short form, and decide with one click.
Turning it on
Appeals are off until an administrator turns them on and picks a channel for them:
,appeal enable #appeals
You can also do it on the dashboard under Moderation → Ban appeals. The bot needs to send messages and embeds in that channel. ,appeal disable turns appeals off; buttons already sent stop working.
How it works
- When someone is banned (including a temporary ban or a vote ban), the bot DMs them an Appeal button.
- The button opens a form with your questions. The answers go to the appeals channel with Accept and Deny buttons.
- Anyone with Ban Members can press them. Accept unbans them, logged as a case like a normal unban.
- Either way, the member gets a DM with the decision, and the appeal shows who decided it.
The questions
,appeal question add What happened? ,appeal question add Why should we unban you? ,appeal question list
Up to 5 questions of up to 45 characters each, and answers up to 1,000 characters. With no questions, the form asks “Why should you be unbanned?”. ,appeal question remove 2 removes one and ,appeal question clear removes them all.
Rules
| Rule | Why |
|---|---|
| One appeal at a time | A member can't send another while one is waiting |
| 7 days after a deny | A denied member can appeal again a week later |
| No appeals for hardbans | Hardbans stay until a moderator lifts them |
| Only while banned | If they were unbanned some other way, the button says so |
Members with their DMs closed don't get the button. The answers are kept until 30 days after the appeal is decided.
