Getting started
Gim is a moderation, security and community bot. Add it to your server and run your first command in a few minutes.
Add the bot
- Log in on the dashboard with Discord. Servers where you have Manage Server are listed, with an Add button for the ones the bot isn't in yet.
- Keep the bot's role high in Server Settings → Roles. It can only manage members and roles below its own role, so place it above the roles it should hand out or moderate.
Running commands
Commands start with a prefix, , by default. A few common ones also work as slash commands (/).
,help
,ban @someone spamming
,welcome add #welcome Welcome {user.mention}!- ,prefix set changes the prefix for the whole server (Administrator).
- ,prefix self gives you a personal prefix that works in every server.
- If you forget the prefix, mention the bot instead:
@Gim help.
Finding commands
Every command is on the commands page, with its aliases, usage and the permission it needs. In Discord, ,help links there, and ,help ban opens it searched for that command.
Usage is written like ,ban <member> [reason]: the parts in <angle brackets> are needed, the ones in [square brackets] are optional. See Syntax for durations, flags and more.
The dashboard
Almost every setting is on the dashboard too, laid out like Discord's server settings. The dashboard runs the same checks as the matching command, so use whichever you prefer. Your personal settings (birthday, timezone, Last.fm, highlights) are under My settings.
Custom messages
Welcome messages, punishment DMs, ticket panels, level-ups and more take a template: plain text or an embed, with {variables} filled in when it's sent. Start with the Embed script and Variables pages.
