Privacy Policy

What Gim stores, why, for how long, and how to get it deleted. Last updated 19 October 2026.

In short

  • We store what the bot needs to work: your server's settings, moderation records, counts and the things you write for the bot.
  • We don't keep the messages people send in your server.
  • We don't sell data, show ads, or share it with anyone except the services listed below.
  • Ask in our support server and we delete your data within 30 days.

What we store

KindWhat exactly
Server settingsEverything set with a command or on the dashboard: prefixes, welcome messages, filters, roles, channels, permissions and so on
ModerationCases (who did what to whom, the reason and any proof link), notes, jails, mutes, silences, hardbans, forced nicknames, roles kept for members who leave, vote punishments (who voted yes or no, kept until 7 days after the vote ends), ban appeals (your answers and the decision, kept until 30 days after it's decided), and bans, kicks, unbans and timeouts done directly in Discord (who, on whom and when, read from the audit log for moderator statistics)
ActivityWhen a member last talked, past usernames and nicknames, how many messages and voice minutes each member has per day, which commands and custom emojis a server uses (and how often each member uses each command), and who stopped boosting
InvitesWho invited whom, with which invite, and bonus invites staff gave
LevelsEach member's XP in servers that turned leveling on
EconomyEach member's wallet and bank, shop items, cooldowns, lottery tickets and casino games or heists in progress in each server, and when they voted for the bot on top.gg
FamilyWho is married to whom and who adopted whom, in each server
Your profileYour bio and the accounts you link (only the names you type), the same in every server with the bot
GamesEach member’s wins, losses and draws per game in each server, the boards of games being played, your daily Wordle guesses (for your streak and stats), and the words of a one-word story until it’s posted
Scam imagesShort fingerprints of known scam images (not the images), and small thumbnails of reported ones until they’re reviewed
CountingEach counting channel's number, best number and who counted last
ConfessionsWho sent each confession and the message it was posted as (not the text), and who is banned from confessing
AIYour last 10 messages with ask and its answers in each server, and how many AI requests each member and server made each day
Things you writeTags, AFK messages, highlight keywords, suggestions, ticket form answers, autoresponders, saved embeds, join DMs and chat revive messages, your birthday, time zone, personal prefix and horoscope sign
Last.fmYour Last.fm username if you link it, and a copy of your public listening stats for the leaderboards

What we don't store

  • Message content. Messages are read to run commands, filters and autoresponders, then forgotten. The only text we keep is what you write for the bot, listed above.
  • Snipe. ,snipe keeps the last 20 deleted or edited messages per channel in memory for 2 hours. They are never written to disk and disappear whenever the bot restarts.
  • Logs and ticket transcripts go to the log channel your server picked, in Discord. We don't keep a copy.

How long we keep it

DataKept for
Statistics (message, voice, join and command counts)2 years
Look-up and Last.fm search caches7 days
Last.fm “now playing” message links30 days
Last.fm login links15 minutes
True-or-false and myth-or-fact guesses1 day
What ask remembers24 hours
AI request counts7 days
Everything elseUntil you or the server owner ask us to delete it

A server's data stays when the bot is removed, so its settings come back if the bot is added again. Ask us if you'd rather it was deleted.

Who can see it

  • Members of a server see what its commands show: leaderboards, invites, ,seen, name history and so on.
  • Settings, moderation records and statistics are for members with the matching permission, mostly Manage Server.
  • Past usernames (not nicknames) can be looked up in any server the bot shares with you. ,clearnames deletes yours.
  • Confessions are anonymous to members, but members with Manage Server in that server can see who sent one with ,confession reveal. The confession form says so. ,confession delete removes the confession and who sent it.

The dashboard

Logging in with Discord gives us your user ID, username, avatar and the list of servers you're in (the identify and guilds scopes), so we can show the servers you manage. That sign-in is kept in an encrypted cookie in your browser, not on our server. Logging out removes it.

Services we use

  • Discord, which runs everything the bot does.
  • Sentry, for error reports. Reports contain the error and where in the code it happened, never IP addresses or personal data.
  • Cloudflare, for the website's domain and for encrypted backups (the two most recent copies are kept).
  • Last.fm, only if you link your account.
  • top.gg, which tells us when you vote for the bot there (your user ID and the time).
  • DeepSeek (based in China), which answers the AI commands. It receives the text you give them (or the message you reply to), the server's name and the date and, for ,ask, what it remembers of your conversation, never who you are. When ,ask looks something up for you, the result goes to it too: for example the channel's recent messages if you ask about the chat, or a member's public info if you ask about them.
  • TinyFish, which searches the web and reads links for ,ask. It receives the search or the link, never who you are, and reads pages from its own servers.
  • Look-up, fun and music sources (weather, translation, YouTube, jokes, facts, animal pictures, memes, horoscopes and similar) receive the text you search for, if any, never who you are. Links you give the bot are fetched through a proxy, so the site sees neither you nor our server.

Your data, your call

You must be old enough to use Discord in your country to use Gim. If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
